I am in the early stages of organizing a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Alcock & Browns trans Atlantic flight from St. John’s. Newfoundland to Clifden, Ireland. I have received early support from two levels of government. I would like to hear from someone in Clifden who could tell me about your plans for the anniversary with a view to perhaps “twinning” our communities.
I am a resident of St. John’s, a retired journalist and lifelong aviation history buff. This is a serious effort on my part and so far I have received nothing but support and encouragement. I hope someone from your society will contact me at the listed email so that we may begin a dialogue.

Gary, I would be happy to talk to you, I am a local historian living in Clifden. I have written a booklet on the flight entitled, Alcock & Brown: The First Non-stop Transatlantic Flight, see http://www.connemaragirlpublications.com
I look forward to hearing from you.
